Keraleeya Samajam, Dombivli, a socio-cultural organisation has a vivid history. This organisation was formed by a handful of Malayalees living in and around Dombivli - Thakurli area in the year 1949. As a matter of fact, this association of friendship had a very limited objects of interacting with each other during the festivities of Kerala and present various arts and cultural forms among themselves. The periodical exchange of views with each other started to grow slowly and steadily by the help, assistance and involvement of many dedicated members paved the way for nourishing a socio-cultural organisation. The organisational skill and attitude to keep pace with the changing needs of the community was instruments in starting a primary School – Model English School - at Bhaji Prabhu Chowk, Dombivli, in the year 1966 at a rented place.

Thereafter it has become history in the Keraleeya Samjam’s graph of achievements. The foundation stone of the of erstwhile Model English School, Pandurangwadi was laid in the year 1972-73 by Shri T.G.T.Nair, Hon.President and Shri P.Gopalakrishnan, General Secretary. The Samajam started Model College at M.I.D.C., Dombivli in the year 1989. The Tunchan Smaraka Building at Kumbharkhanpada, Dombivli West is another milestone in the history of Keraleeya Samajam, where a full-fledged High School is functioning since 2008—09. One of the most prestigious achievements of the Keraleeya Samajam is the completion of Model College, in a sprawling campus, at Khambalpada, Dombivli, in the year 2016. Today the Samajam is in the process of constructing a 7 storeyed Building with most modern facilities to house the Model English School, Pandurangwadi, at its old site.

The history of Keraleeya Samajam (Regd.) Dombivli does not end here. Today the Samajam caters to the need of more than 5,000 students from Nursery to Class X at the Model English School, which has 5 branches all over Dombivli and Thakurli areas of KDMC. Similarly, Model College, Dombivli, a prestigious Educational Institution in Thane District is catering to the needs of more than 6000 students in Junior and Senior level and up to PHD under different streams of Commerce, Science and Arts. Keraleeya Samajam got a feather on its cap in 2019 when the UGC conferred the Autonomous status to Model College, Dombivli.

The backbone of the achievements of Keraleeya Samajam is the dedicated members of the Keraleeya Samajam, which stands 6000 plus today. Many stalwarts have served in the Governing Council for the last 70 years and each one of them have been instrumental in building this great organisation bit by bit; we remember each one of them.
