The Hampshire Hogs app guides visitors around Basingstoke’s 2021 art sculpture trail of beautiful and uniquely designed and painted life-sized Hogs. Use the app to find each Hog sculpture with a GPS locator map and track your progress in completing the trail of 17 Hogs. It gives details about all the artists and their design inspiration from their life in Hampshire, as well as details of all the partners involved with the trail.

Each Hog design was selected by its sponsor from a huge variety submitted by Hampshire-based artists. The artists then painted their Hog and they have been located in places of interest around Basingstoke. They take you on a trail around Basingstoke’s town centre, parks, and gardens to discover places and to see a showcase of talent and creativity. With the app, the trail becomes easy, fun, and covid safe for all to navigate.

The app shows you exactly where the Hogs are, so they are easy to find and even suggests where to go next. There is lots of information about each Hog including details about the artist, its sponsor, and pictures, each Hog has its own #tag so you can tag them in your own Instagram pictures for them to be added to that Hog’s gallery. You check off each Hog as you go, so you can track your progress towards completing the trail.

The trail will be in place from August to October 2021, afterwards, the Hogs will be auctioned in aid of charities including the headline charity Heartburn Cancer UK. The project has been entirely funded through sponsorship. Hampshire Hogs is part of Basingstoke’s ambitious plans to recover from the pandemic and is managed by not-for-profit company Destination Basingstoke.
