Rohit Gurunath Sharma is an Indian cricket player. Rohit is also the captain of IPL team Mumbai Indians. Sharma currently holds the record for highest individual score in One Day Internationals. He scored a record 264 of 173 balls against Srilanka on November 13, 2014. Rohit is also the only player to score two double centuries in One Day Internationals. He is also the only person to score 250+ in an ODI innings.

Rohit Sharma was born on April 30, 1987 in Maharashtra. He was born to Gurunath Sharma and Purnima Sharma. He speaks fluent Telegu. He came to prominence after a wonderful 2006 U-19 Cricket World Cup. He scored the highest number of runs in that tournament. India lost to Pakistan in the finals. He made his ODI debut for India against Ireland in Belfast. He scored an unbeaten 50 against South Africa in the 2007. During his early career he was a finisher. Rohit Sharma finished a lot of innings with the legendary Sachin Tendulkar. His position was taken by the new upcoming star Virat Kohli. He scored his maiden ODI century against Zimbabwe in 2010. in 2013, he made his permanent place in Indian cricket when his was asked to open the innings with Shikhar Dhawan. Rohit Sharma took India to win the Champions Trophy in 2013. He later created history by hitting 16 sixes in an ODI innings against Australia. He scored 2009 runs of 158 balls in that match. He became only the third player after Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Shewag to score a double century in ODI. Rohit Sharma was then picked for the test series against West Indies in 2013. He scored a massive 177 on debut. He also followed that up with another ton. On November 2014, he broke Virender Shewag’s record of 217 with 264 in an ODI. Rohit Sharma became the only player to score two double centuries in ODI’s. He was also the only player in history to score 250+ in One Day Internationals. Rohit Sharma captained Mumbai Indians to an IPL championship. He also won 1 Champions League as captain of Mumabi Indians. On the pitch Rohit is an exceptional fielder.
