If you are running the newest OS 6.0+ Marshmallow then you will need to enable storage permissions in the settings. The application will not work and may crash if the permission is not set. You can set it from inside you phone's settings. From the settings go to Applications and locate and tap on "IR Remote". From the here locate and tap the permissions option. Now move the switch to allow storage access. Storage access is used to store the remotes and to access image for backgrounds.

When opening the app for the first time it will default to a Samsung TV Remote. To change the remote swipe from the left edge of the screen towards the right. You will see remote searching options.

There are now 2 separate versions of IR Universal Remote. You can continue to use this app or use the newer one. Upgrades made in this app automatically carry over to the other app. If you upgrade in the other app then this app will automatically be upgraded. The newer app supports tablets better and also supports HTC devices running Android 5.0.1+ and LG devices.
