Konami, in today's Livestream on YouTube, reveals the latest news about the Silent Hill series and has announced officially that a new movie - Return to Silent Hill is in development. The upcoming title is a sequel to the original Silent Hill released in 2006 and will be the third horror film from the franchise. According to the official statement, the film will be based on the adventure of Silent Hill 2, a survival horror game developed by Team Silent, and Director Christophe Gans will return to hem the new movie, after directing the original 2006 movie.
“This one now has so many years from the first one that there is a clear idea from Christophe to make it modern, but also very true to the video game,” said Hadida. “And that’s also what it is. We are also respecting the will of the author, the producers and Konami into this adaptation. Christophe is really somebody that respects the work that has been done, but that also has his own vision. It nurtures the creative vision of the authors from the game, but with a different vision from a filmmaker. And both have created, I believe, something that has struck the minds of the fans.”
The Silent Hill franchise starts in 1999 as a survival horror game developed by Team Silent. Because of its huge popularity, these years Konami has been releasing a series of Silent Hill games, as well as comics adaptations, Silent Hill movies, etc. The game series focuses on psychological horror and building an intense atmosphere, making it one of the defining titles in the genre.
