After a tease last month, Bandai Namco has officially revealed a new Tekken game, Tekken 8, during the PlayStation State of Play today.
Watch the official reveal trailer of Tekken 8 below:
According to Harada, the Chief Producer of the Tekken Project, the trailer video is actually captured from the title in development. It is taken from the story mode of Tekken 8 and shows off some real-time battles running at 60 fps on PS5, providing gamers with a familiar gaming experience in battle modes. Some content including the camera angle, effects, and dialogues may change in the final product.
From the trailer, you can see the intense battles between Jin and Kazuya with some familiar moves, as well as amazing details like water droplets running down the skin. In the background, there are rains, waves, tornados, and a huge tanker breaking apart, ect
"These are all battle stage effects to be used in this title. We are of course working hard to enhance the quality even further. In the latest version of the work-in-progress build, the quality is dynamically improving each day, with the giant tanker moving closer to the shore in the background and large flames flaring up near where the character is standing. We hope you look forward to seeing them in-game!" -- Director Katsuhiro Harada
