Growing Fish and Vegetables Together in aquaponic gardening

For those of you who are not familiar with this term, aquaponics is a mixture of fish farming or fish farming and hydroponics or cultivation of crops with little soil in a sustainable closed system.

What's that?

Aquaponics is a combination of aquaculture and hydroponics in a unity of mutually beneficial systems.

How does it work?

Fish excretion is given to plants to be broken down into nitrates and nitrites through natural processes, and utilized by plants as nutrients. The water is then recirculated back to the aquaculture system.

There are so many Aquaponic models being applied now. But here I will share for a simple system, the goal so that we are easier to understand. For the system I will share is Aquaponic deep raft system (deep water culture). Iaponic floating raft system is a combination of hydroponic floating raft technique in collaboration with pond / fish tub.

To make Aquaponic simple floating raft in my opinion, need some major components, among others,

1. Pond / fish tub.

2. Water pump.

3. Tub / container to plant (grow bed)

The pool can use a fiber pool, concrete pool, or use a plastic tub. For fish I use Tilapia Fish.

2. Water pump

Since we will make a simple Aquaponic, then here we only need to use a small aquarium pump.

3. Container / grow bed

Containers can use commonly used for hydroponics in general.

4. Pipe

Simply whatever aquaponics certainly will not be separated from the pipeline because the aquaponic piping is used to regulate the flow of water and for the manufacture of siphon system / tidal grow bed.
