THE SACRED BHAGAVAD GITA

“When the virtues decline and evil flourish, I give myself birth to protect the good and destroy the sinners. In every age I appear for establishing righteousness.”

Bhagavad Gita as is known to a common man, is the greatest philosophical and religious dialogue known to mankind, it recounts the discourse given by Lord Krishna to Arjuna, who was reluctant to fight relatives facing the other side of the battlefield of Kurukshetra. A discourse on the science of self-realization, it is an arresting moment in the life of one who suddenly feels the need to question, his duties.

The Bhagvad Gita is the eternal message of Lord Krishna himself and the word of God becomes the path of enlightenment for all, irrespective of caste, creed, age and gender; social or economic status in the society. The Bhagavad Gita is a whole literature in itself, containing a code of life, a philosophy of social and ethical relations, and a speculative thought on human problems and their solutions. Fundamentally the Bhagavad Gita preaches three things. First – Do your duty to the best of your ability without the expectation of results, second – believe that God is present equally in all human beings, and third – the ultimate aim of all mortals is to attain salvation.

Compiled in 18 chapters and 700 shlokas, The Bhagavad Gita is a detailed rationalisation of important concepts such as Karma Yog - Transcendental Knowledge, Dhyana Yog – Knowledge of supreme truth, attaing the Supreme, the opulence of the absolute, the Universal form, Devotional service, Nature, the enjoyer and Consciousness, Divisions of faith, perfection of renunciation and more. You can choose your album for more clarity as there are explanations in English and Hindi. There are songs based on Geetasaar too. Most importantly divine singers like Pandit Jasraj, S. P.
