As a basis of the basal metabolic rate, the Harris-Benedict formula is used and the active metabolic rate is calculated using PAL factors.

The calculations are very realistic and exact, since the basal metabolic rate is adjusted by the factors age, height, gender and weight.

The basal metabolic rate then serves as the basis for performance metabolic rate.
