The main upgrade is inside. The 24-megapixel sensor and 1080p video is a significant improvement on the 24 megapixel M5 and 720p video, and complies with the 700D specification. Other features remain unchanged. The auto focus sensor has nine points but only the center point which is a cross type to increase the sensitivity. It also uses the same optical viewfinder as the 1100D with 0.8x magnification, which is slightly smaller than 0.85x 700D magnification. It comes with Canon DIGIC 4 rather than the latest DIGIC 5 processor, which means that chromatic aberrations are not automatically corrected for JPEG. Meanwhile, 3fps continuous shooting speed seems to be deliberately hobbled - the EOS M5 uses a 36-megapixel sensor and the same 4fps DIGIC 4 processor.
