CrossCult National Gallery

Un guide intelligent personnalisé pour découvrir la collection du Musée des beaux-arts

This application is a prototype application built in the context of the CrossCult European research project (http://www.crosscult.eu/). The CrossCult National Gallery App uses profiling, location tracking and recommendation technologies to guide you through the National Gallery collection, providing recommended short tours or highlighting individual paintings, based on your own preferences, activities and physical location.

Search and explore the entire collection, interact with the digital map included in the App to navigate from one Room to the other, select your preferred artwork, focus on related paintings and discover the stories they tell.

"To Like or not to Like, that is the question"

To capture a quick snapshot of your likes and dislikes, scroll through the selection of paintings from the collection and highlight you preferences, by sliding a painting to the left for “No, I don’t like it” or to the right for “Yes, I like it”. You can also double tap on the painting to add it to your favourites

"All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us"

Each visit can be different. Are you visiting along? How long do you have? Defining your visit helps the app to suggest paintings and activities that might interest you.

Would you like to see paintings depicting people or landscapes? You can refine further you visit by indicating your interests from the available curated pool of keywords

"Not all those who wander are lost"

The digital map allows you to explore and navigate your way through the National Gallery, highlighting recommended paintings, selected routes and pin pointing your location. The app will pick up your location automatically once you are physically in the Building. On the pop up window click on enter and tap on the thumbnails to learn more about individual paintings.

"What else is out there?"

The search box allows you to find paintings, artists and rooms related to the term you type. This is also the place to browse the app recommendations and available stories as well as your selections of favourites, liked and disliked paintings
