Terminologies including reference material in Indian Languages.

The Government of India established the Standing Commission for Scientific and Technical Terminology [CSTT] on 01 October 1961 under clause 4 of Article 344 of the Constitution of India on the recommendation of a committee and by the order of the President, Republic of India issued on 27 April 1960 with the objective to evolve terminology for all Indian Languages. The main function of this Terminology Commission is to evolve the Standard Terminology, use, propagation and distribution. Evolution of Scientific and Technical Terminology including reference material in Hindi and other Indian Languages in collaboration of State Governments, Universities and / or Regional Text Book Boards / Granth Academies. Presently CSTT is functioning under Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India with its headquarter at New Delhi and twenty two State Granth Academies / State Text Book Boards / Universities Cells, etc. are also associated with this Terminology Commission with their main motive to produces University Level Text Books / reference materials in Hindi and other Indian Languages with the use of standard terminology as evolved by the CSTT. Till date CSTT has standardized the terminology of about eight lakhs technical words in different subjects and in different languages. Apart from this CSTT has published large number of Definitional Dictionaries, Glossaries, Text Books, Reference Materials, Monograph, Quarterly Journal, named, Vigyan Garima Sindhu and Gyan Garima Sindhu and many more similar nature of work. CSTT has also taken care of Administrative and various departmental glossaries that are widely used by various government departments, Institutions, Research Laboratories, Autonomous Organization, PSUs, etc. CSTT regularly organizes workshops, seminars, symposium, conferences, orientation and training program to increase the use and popularise the standard terminology of Hindi and other Indian languages.
