Origami is the traditional Japanese art of paper folding ("ori" to fold "kami/gami" paper). Origami sculptures are typically created with square sheets of paper and not much else (no scissors, glue, or tape, for example).

Origami has a wide skill level range. Some projects, like the dog face project described here in this Hub, are simple enough for anyone to make. Other projects, like the ones seen in the video to the right, take a lot more patience and skill.

As a beginner do not be disheartened if you get it right the first time. Also do not give up if you are not able to complete it and get the final look. Keep trying should be your motto.

Get some origami papers which are plain coloured and uncut, you can also settle for simple paper or even a newspaper. Cut them into exact squares and you are ready to begin. If you get yourself some origami books or download the instructions from the net you will understand the directions given. Because side by side directions, the matter is also given, this way you will understand the workings even better. As you get your hands on simpler ideas, try doing the difficult ones. Colour them, paint them and put them around your home.
