Eid al-Fitr is Arabic for "festival of the breaking of the fast." Eid kickstarts the month of Shawwal, which begins with a feast to end the period of Ramadan. Eid or Eid al-Fitr, is a time for feasting and celebration. It marks the end of Ramadan, which is a month of fasting and prayer that started on May 27 and finished on Saturday June 24. Eid 2017 starts on Sunday June 25 and marks the start of a month of celebration.

During Eid morning, Muslims gather at mosques and prayer areas to perform Eid Prayer and greet each other. The festival is celebrated by visiting friends and relatives, hosting food parties and sharing sweets.
