As each hexagram is built of two trigrams, each Hexagram Qigong Posture is really two sequential postures, the first one for the lower trigram, the second one for the upper trigram. Thus, there are 8 basic postures. The Earth Trigram posture is a neutral standing posture.

The Thunder Trigram Posture is arms reaching up to handle some pressing issue.

The Water Trigram Posture is with hands behind the body.

The Lake Trigram Posture is a casual unprotected posture.

The Mountain Trigram Posture is holding space with the arms and hands forward.

The Fire Trigram Posture is hands pushing away from the forehead.

The Wind Trigram Posture is arms out to the sides.

The Heaven Trigram Posture is arms reaching up to heaven.
