Mahālakşmī is the presiding deity of the middle part of Devī Māhātmya.She is the slayer of Mahişāsura and consort of Sadāśiva. She being Nirguņā is thousand armed. But for the sake of worship, She is eulogised in an eighteen armed form. She is Sovereign Authority above all deities and She subjects everyone to Her Imperial Will. Mahalakshmi  is the Hindu Goddess of Wealth, Fortune and Prosperity. the god who maintains human life filled with justice and peace. This symbolism implies wealth and prosperity is coupled with maintenance of life, justice, and peace.
