Malai Murasu is a Tamil daily started by Dinathandi Group in 1959. The evening newspaper was started by Sivanthi Adithyan in Nellai. This is the first evening newspaper launched outside Chennai. The owner of Malai Murasu was B. Ramachandra Adithyanar. Malai Murasu's current managing director is Ira Kannan Adithan.

The newsletter has a separate section for the film industry, not just the website and app news. Similarly there are separate pages for politics, crime, cover story, district news. Movie related news, reviews and video recordings are also uploaded.
