There are three main styles of men’s sandals: mule, technical, and toe-post. Unlike many women’s sandals, which can be dressed up or down, men’s sandals should always be worn casually. Technical sandals

Technical sandals, or sports sandals, are commonly made from breathable synthetic materials and feature several straps to keep the foot totally secure. Brought to the market in the 80s, the technical sandal has been a popular choice ever since due to its comfort and practicality. Perfect for hikes on humid summer days or a full day walking around the city in summertime, these are a great choice for any man who enjoys spending time getting out in nature during the summer.

Pair technical sandals with shorts or, at a stretch, chinos — avoid wearing them alongside jeans altogether, and never pair them with socks if you want to stay on style.

Flip flops

For the ultimate in summer footwear, pick up a pair of flip flops. This classic design lends a laid-back vibe to any outfit, and they’re perfect for the beach, by the pool, or for a day in the garden.

Toe-posts should only ever be paired with shorts, so only wear them on the sunniest of days or when you’re abroad. The thicker the straps of a toe-post sandal, the more comfortable they will be to wear, so keep that in mind when you’re buying them. While you can pick up cheaper models made from synthetic materials, more sophisticated models come with comfortable padded soles and handsome leather straps.

Kids’ sandals

When looking for sandals for your child, you should prioritise comfort and ease of use well above aesthetics. Contemporary styles often use synthetic materials that offer the benefit of being easy to clean and water-friendly. Also, when buying sandals for young children, consider how awkward it’s going to be to take them on and off your child.
