The little man cowered in the recesses of the shadows surrounding them, but there was no hiding. He had eyes everywhere, and no one made a move without his consent. The cities were his chessboard, and the people, his pawns.

"I won't say good luck then. There is no such thing," the little man all but whispered. "If you are prepared, then you might have a chance at surviving, and if you haven't..."

"I don't need luck, and I don't need to prepare," he growled in return. "I claimed this city as my own when I was nothing and had nothing and now look at me, I'm a regular king of the slums. Why bother warning me? If this foe you speak of is so determined to see me fall, would he not prefer the element of surprise?"

"My boss is no coward. He demands a fair fight, if this can even be called fair." The little man stood taller then, as if being pulled by strings like a marionette. He moved into the light, his face contorted with determination and a cockiness that didn't become him.

"Very well," he murmured, leaving the little man straining to hear. "I shall do the same. You have five seconds to run, then I'm going to blow your head off."

The report of his gun echoed as blood spattered the concrete, and he smiled. "I lied, sorry. I'm no coward, but nor am I in the business of giving warnings," he leered with smug righteousness. If this new enemy was willing to send him such an easy target, this fight would be a breeze...
