Play in Tune: The Revolutionary Tuner Trainer

Just looking at a traditional tuner may tell you if you are sharp or flat, but to play in tune you must learn the sound of an in-tune note and learn to match it.

The Play in Tune app doesn’t just tell you if you are sharp or flat, but it helps you learn what playing in tune sounds like and aids in learning to play chords and music in tune.

How to use the Play in Tune app:

1. Set your device volume low and connect your headset.

2. Touch the headset icon on the screen to turn on the headset feature.

3. Adjust your device volume so you can hear both your instrument and the tuning note.

4. As you play, imagine your instrument sound matching the tuning notes while you bend the pitch in tune. This will link the muscle response to sound.

5. Use the screen as a reference to help you tune, but let the sound be the primary focus.

Use the Mode button to switch through the four different modes:

1. Key

2. Key Plus

3. Interval Up

4. Interval Down

5. Drone

Key: When the tuning system is set to Just Temperament all notes are tuned in relationship to the key displayed next to the key icon. Use the slider to select a different key. The note is played in tune over the headset according to the tuning system.

Key Plus: The same as key mode except the tuning note and a drone matching the root of the key are played.

Interval Up: The note is tuned according to the interval displayed next to the up arrow. Use the slider to select a different interval. The note being tuned is played over the headset according to the tuning system along with the lower note of the interval in equal temperament.

Interval Down: The note is tuned in equal temperament. The note is played over the headset along with the upper note of the interval played according to the tuning system. Use the slider to select a different interval.

Drone: When the tuning system is set to Just Temperament all notes are tuned in relationship to the key displayed next to the drone icon. Use the slider to select a different key. The drones are played in tune over the headset according to the selected key and tuning system. Select the drones played in the app settings. Up to four pitches may be selected

The octave button will add an octave to the interval played over the headset.
