PurUmeed Aaghaz a pour objectif de conseiller les femmes enceintes sur une alimentation et un mode de vie sains.

PurUmeed Aghaaz is a mobile application developed to advice and counsel women during pregnancy. Healthy diet, recommended consumption of micronutrients and following a healthy lifestyle is essential during pregnancy.

Healthy diet refers to food choices from 6 major food groups. These groups include Bread, rice, cereal, pasta and potato group, fruit and vegetable group, Meat and meat substitutes from animal and plant sources, milk and dairy products and oil and fats. These major food groups provide essential nutrients along with the energy needed during pregnancy to maintain normal body functioning, growth and nourishment of baby. Similarly, the important micronutrients required during pregnancy include Iron, Folic acid, vitamin D and calcium. These are required in micro amounts but are vital for normal functioning of body. During pregnancy, these micronutrients are essential for health and wellbeing of mother and for normal development of baby. Also, these are required to prevent pregnancy related complications such as neural tube defect, preeclampsia and gestational diabetes mellitus.

Diet recommended during pregnancy doesn’t refer to restricting a diet rather it involves fine tuning of the eating habits to ensure consumption of important macro and micro nutrients on daily basis.

In the same way, a healthy lifestyle is equally important for an uncomplicated pregnancy. Pregnancy is not a disease and should be considered as a normal physiological process. Physical activity whereby performing the tasks that fall under the category of mild and moderate activities are encouraged throughout pregnancy. Also, avoiding the intake of tobacco in any form and switching to healthy options are encouraged without any doubt.

This application will also collect data on food and supplement consumed by pregnant women over the period of one week. Also, the details on lifestyle habits including physical activity will collected in the application. The information collected will provide advice to the women in the form of recommendations. Following those recommendations, women will be able to improve their diet, supplement use and lifestyle habits. Those women who would already be following the recommendations, this application will provide motivation to keep up with the compliance.

Also, this application will allow women to record food eaten over a week before next study visit. Women will also receive short messages for 3 times in a week. These messages will be based on dietary and lifestyle advice.

Hence, PurUmeed Aghaaz aims to support pregnant women by providing dietary guidance, supplement recommendations and lifestyle advice in order to have a healthy new born and wonderful pregnancy experience.
