À propos de Schola Cantorum

Français

Apprendre le chant grégorien avec Schola Cantorum.

Learn Gregorian Chant with Schola Cantorum (formerly called Chant Master)!

Follow the highlighted note, or what in Gregorian chant is called a neume (rhymes with broom) as it plays.

Set up sectional playback to learn a score of chant section by section.

Turn it on Repeat to hear it over and over until you've learn it.

Transpose the pitch so that it falls within your range.

Change the tempo to sing at your own pace.

Learn from pre-loaded chants or build and load your own chants using the free font Caeciliae (see the Help Section of the app).

Build very simple chants from within in the app (more complex neumes to come in a future update).

Save your work so you can continue to add neumes or open a saved chant to hear it again.

Disclaimer

Currently, only the button for the simplest neume (the punctum) is functional, with the option of adding a mora (little dot next to it), a horizontal epizema (the little line over it), and a flat symbol. However, the other neumes are supported but have to be inputted a using a .txt file and the font Caeciliae. See the end of the help section on the app for details or contact me. The other buttons will be functional in a future update.

I am not a professional android developer. This is my first app and my first time programming in Java. Please be lenient in rating my app but I welcome any and all suggestions. I will continue to develop this app as I can on the side while working fulltime, finishing up school, and starting a family.

The Up and Coming Full Version will:

+implement the full range of Gregorian chant neumes

+provide a much more intuitive method for inputting neumes (especially the more complex types)

+support repeat and sectional playback to learn Gregorian Chant section by section more easily (added in current version)

+highlight neumes during playback (added in current version)

+include accompanying lyrics (added in current version)

+display modern musical notation equivalent of each note as it plays

+include an improved "Transpose" feature (added in current version)

+implement touch scrolling on the display (added in current version)

+allow inputted neumes to be edited

+include a button for playing the starting pitch (added in current version)

+allow exporting/sharing

+allow tempo adjustment (added in current version)

+support GACB files (think http://gregobase.selapa.net/)

Please contact me with any suggestions. If they are good, you'll see them in the full version.
