Bringing classic fairy-tales to life, through the magic of augmented reality.

Once upon a time, in a sleepy little seaside town on the edge of a dark and mysterious forest in South Africa, a wonderful idea was brought forth into the world...

'Stories to Life' is Fuzzy Logic's first beautiful children's book that is brought to life using our own inhouse developed Augmented Reality app.

Inspired by classical Grimm's Fairy Tales, TouTenKartoon's papercraft stopmotion work on 'La Petit Prince', and the beautiful forests in the Garden Route of South Africa, we are debuting this experience with the age old tale of Hansel and Gretel, and are well into production, having developed a successful prototype of the app, and a set of finished pages for the book.

We are now reaching a stage where, to move forward, we need to shift all our focus from other projects, and direct it all into finishing the book and polishing the app, so that children and adults alike can enjoy the experience that is 'Stories to Life.'

The Book

Twelve pages of glorious illustrations and text in a 12 x 9 inch hardcover, 'Stories to Life - Hansel and Gretel' is a standalone book that children and adults can enjoy for years to come.

Unless you're a witch of course, in which case we apologise for the happily ever after. :(

The App

Companion to the book that will magically bring Hansel and Gretel to life, using the latest augmented reality technology. It will allow you to look at each illustration in the book and watch it turn into a 3D animated world that tells the story of that scene.

Each scene is painstakingly crafted by taking the original illustration, cutting it up into individually painted elements (called "sprites"), assembling them in a 3D scene and then "rigging" and animating each to breathe life into them.

This whole scene then gets taken into the game engine where we use shaders to achieve the unique look and various effects such as reflections in the water, lens flares and other elements to add dynamism, and custom made particle systems to add depth and turn it into a living little world.

Currently we have a working prototype that works with the first few scenes, and we want you to try it out! Just follow the instructions below:
