Generate random but culturally plausible names - using content from the Story Games Names Project. Useful for roleplaying games (RPGs) or writing fiction; probably not so good for naming your children. Shake to generate new names (or press the buttons).

This app is completely free, and has no advertising. The source code is available with a GPL licence at https://github.com/inigo/storynames. The images used are from various sources and are Creative Commons licensed or out of copyright. The names lists themselves are copyright to their respective authors, and were assembled by people on the Story Games forum (http://www.story-games.com/forums/) - credits are in the About page of application.

Thank you to all the people who contributed to the Story Games Names Project! I've got a reasonable number of the total lists in the app at the moment, but there are still quite a few left that I haven't added for various reasons. Please let me know if there are any particular cultures you'd like me to add - and if you can point me towards a Creative Commons licensed image that I can use as a background, even better.

Some of the background images will be a bit stretched on some devices - I know, I'm thinking about how to improve this.
