By plane you reach Oslo then Honningsvag airport and from then, Gjesvaer is only 35 by car far kms.
The Gjesvaerstappan Reserve is located in Finnmark, one of the most wide region in the Northernmost part of Norway. Climate is quite mild between june to mid August and often, here is sunny when just a few miles away in North Cape plateau is raining. The little fjord protect Gjesvaer from strong summer winds and it's a pleasant place to spend some relaxing days.
The Gjesvaerstappan reserve isn't far from the village and is formed by a group of islands of different shapes and sizes.
You can easily spot thousand of Cormorants, Razorbills, Gannets, Guillemots, Kittiwakes.
The puffins, or fratercula arctica, recognizable for their akward shape similar to a little penguin with a multi-coloured beak here breed in colonies and this area is also home of the Withe-tailed eagle that you can easily spot in the night perching on a rock or soaring majesty in the sky.
Besides you can buys fish from the local fishing boats and you can get original wild salmon, other fine dried fish or
also your catching vacuum packed, easy to get on board or in your luggages.
You can also use Gjesvaer how base and visit the different places in the island of Mageroya included North Cape plateau and its interesting visitor's center.
