The native Android-App XTS enables couriers to communicate via mobile phone (Bring-Your-Own-Device) with the XTS-Host-System of their customers.

The registered users of the XTS-System are receiving commissions for collecting and delivering in real time and via XTS mobile. The system awards each commission to the courier with the most favorable position in respect to the destination. The decisions are based on the GPS-coordinates of the smart phones. In addition the means of movement (by bicycle, car, on foot) and the maximum capacity for items to be transported are taken into account. As soon a courier has accepted an assignment, the XTS-Navigation guides him directly to the destination. XTS-mobile uses Open-Street-Map for the navigation data.

Should the courier be carrying out a different task already, the new assignment would be integrated into the delivery at hand - looking for the best available routes and sequences.

The idea behind XTS:

Crowded streets and cities bursting at the seams. And everybody can order nearly anything and have it delivered to the doorstep - whether it's pizza, an evening gown or all kinds of services. The eXtensible Transport System or XTS now takes care of delivery planning, optimizing the routes for collecting and delivering, thus minimizing distances covered and time spent. XTS was designed specifically to meet the challenges issued by urban areas.

How can this be done? The customer places an order, say, in an online shop or a web portal. The delivery orders are calculated, in real time via XTS, the best sequence and route is decided on and then put at the disposal of the person in charge of the delivery. The point behind all this: Hubs, depots and connecting points can be used in the planning process and it is always possible to integrate new commissions even while a delivery is in progress. Same-day-delivery has finally become reality.
